In the JW world, is there a difference between Christmas lights and Chile lights?
Chile lights are the same damn idea, but they are used as a party decoration all year long.

It is timing of display and specificity of theme. I know places that have white lights in the trees and bushes all year long, Disney, restaurants, etc. Now if they only put them up during the Xmas season....a jw might consider them pagan.
Putting up lighted Santas, reindeer, elves, creches, would be considered holiday fare.
I know a family of inactive jws that hang white lights all year long on the porch, deck, and fence, and put up snowflakes on the windows and a snowman during the winter (from first snowflake to last flake on the ground). Not a peep. I also know jws that put up lights with a sports theme during the season.

Just don't have this type of flag on your car and drive into the parking lot at the KH with the CO watching.
Do you mean as in strings of lights that look like Chili Peppers?
Can't speak for this one scpecifically, however I have known several JWs that had white lights decorating their patios and their ficus trees all year, but I think all of them turned them off in December.
I guess that is becuse they only have one meaning that time of year, and suddenly become pagan, but all the paganinity disapears in January?

Yes! exactly.
Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me that if a fader is bound and determined to have holiday lights of some kind, then chile lights would give a little deniabililty. ---Maybe even change a judicial inquiry into "Not stumbling others" counsel
TD, I may have to let you know the answer next year, I think that is a good idea.
Blondie, I met at least one CO who wouldn't mind, as long as it was a Green Bay flag,
and I have known ones to have Georgia paraphernalia on their cars all the time. However college football is big in the south, I just wish college was big too.
My wife loves snowmen. At Christmas time, she will want to put snowmen up so I bought a snowman decoration to go in front of our apartment. I stated that we could keep it up the entire month of January so as to take away from the Christmas-y theme of it. She loves snowmen but laments that snowmen decorations are up only at Christmas time.
It's amazing the amount of mental hoops they have to jump through just to enjoy normal things non-witnesses take for granted.
