My mother called me today from a blocked phone number. She is separated from my df'd dad and he sends crazy texts begging her to come back, so her elders encouraged her to CHANGE AND BLOCK HER NUMBER. She said to me, "I can't allow anyone to tell me I'm doing the wrong thing."
I asked why I couldn't have it and she said that if our dad asks us for her #, we can legitimately say we don't have it. I asked her what we should do if someone dies or something. She said to call her brother and he'll call her. So her brother gets her new # but we don't. Nice. The elders are counseling her to, basically, sequester herself from family and she's calling it a protection. She says she's left my dad because of willful spiritual non support. He knew "bad things were happening" and he invited it right into the house. (He'd smoke pot in the house w/ his dealer.) I'm not even clear what the hell to make of this insanity. I'm just sickened. Some of our stuff is still in a storage unit up there where my parents live and for some reason, she keeps pestering me about it. "So you're coming to get your stuff after you move into the house, right? So you're coming to get your stuff right away?" WHY do you care?? It's not in your name and it's not on your property. WTF? Maybe she's hoping to see you when you come get your stuff out of storage. She must be pretty freaked out right now, even though she's firmly in the grips of the cult.

Don't people want to start giving borrowed things back and getting their things back before a break in the relationship? or maybe she wants an excuse to see you like the person above said.

Maybe she does just want to see me. I hadn't thought of that. Oddly, I'm the only one she doesn't fully shun or say she SHOULD shun. That's so weird. She shuns each of my brothers in a very different way. It makes me kind of mad.
I'm not even sure where to go with it all. This is kind of hard to process.
