I am really pissed off with myself that I didn't jump in the water with the dolphins. I knew how cold the water was, as I had been in the day before. If I had gone in I woudn't have been able to take photos though. That is a pretty weak excuse, I know, but I do have the photos.
This is my nieghbours boy and one of our best friends taking an early morning dip on Tuesday.
wow I'd love to try that! I'd be kicking myself too if I'd let cold water scare me off. The memory of the experience and sensation would be far stronger than a photo of someone else doing it, but then we couldn;t have enjoyed the pictures! Don't miss out next time! What part of the world was this by the way?
It was in a secluded bay in the far north of New Zealand. They were there the previous evening and they were really showing off, leaping out of the water all around our boat.
That morning, they followed us out of the bay and I tried to take photos of them rubbing their tummies on the bow of the boat, but the photos didn't come out very well. Next time I'll take video instead.
i've seen a report on therapies for handicapped/down syndrome children where all they did was swimming with the dolphins.
don't know how dolphins influence us humans, but some children that never spoke a word in their lives suddenly opened up and became interested in their environment. one child of four or five years finally started walking... incredible.
would really like to do try that.
