The Awake's Deceptive "Hope For The Poor" (Nov 8)

  Frightened, distressed faces photographed in monochrome for greatest effect - that's the cover

  of the Nov. 8, 05 Awake bearing the title "What Hope is There for the Poor?

  The article contains consoling statements printed in bold such as "Jehovah's Witnesses

  are spreading a message of hope" and "God's kingdom will eliminate poverty"

  Yet, nowhere in this article does it explain that poverty will be eliminated primarily

  by God slaughtering the poor at Armageddon! Gives new meaning to the phrase

  "war on poverty", doesn't it?

  Since only Witnesses are permitted to survive the End - and 99.9% of earth's population

  isn't "in the truth" ( including billions of poor people), exactly how does this nonsense

  offer "hope"?

  Here's a better idea: Support good social-democratic governments (that have

  already greatly reduced poverty in many areas of the world) and give your Awake

  contributions to Habitat for Humanity or Care instead.

  ah but truly there is scriptual proof that there IS no hope for the poor...

  and the poor are a "them" not a "us" to Jesus..

  john 12: 8 You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me."

  Future hope? What about now? Must the poor be content with their lot until Jehovah makes everything all right? What is the Watchtower Society doing now to alleviate the problem? Where are its shelters, soup kitchens, etc.? Its only "solution" is for its members to distribute its literature and discuss its contents about a future hope!

  eh as long as they get tax free charitable status for feeding the poor watchtowers they'll be content to do no more than that.

  I guess cutting out 99.99 percent of the population would make it easier for the remaining .001 percent to find food, huh?
