I was talking with someone not so long ago, that had lost their child due to the blood policy. They were both active JWs at the time, but has since left the religion. The child died, and I`m just wondering: Has anyone ever tried to sue the WTS on basis of this? If so, how did it go?
Has anyone sued on basis of loosing loved ones due to blood doctrine?

Ok, I read thru the articles, but I`m not sure I understand. Why is he suing? He managed to get her daugther to accept the transfusions, she had three dozens of them, but still she died. I really think it`s time that someone sues the WTBTS on these grounds, but there are people who have a much stronger case than this. People who have lost their child, because their JW-spouse have refused to allow transfusion, I`m sure there are dozens of cases like this. Oh how I would like to see that organisation bleeeed.

Hughes also says in his statement of claim that they moved Bethany to the Cross Cancer Institute, which he says gave her an alternate treatment without proper consent. Bethany Hughes was moved to the new hospital after being discharged from the Alberta Children's Hospital in July 2002, where doctors said she was too ill to continue being treated with chemotherapy and transfusions. She died less than two months later, just after turning 17.It makes me sick today to think that Bethany would still be alive if she had received the proper treatment and blood transfusion," he said. "What they did was immoral, criminal, evil."

Ok, I didn`t know that. Well, then I wish him good luck. Hope the WTBTS has to pay big time. Nothing hurts a JW more than taking away his money.

To me it is amazing how this couple (the one Hellrider was talking about) could have overcome an erroneous belief that they let their child die for. How traumatic it must have been. I would tend to think an experience like that would thereafter cause them to shut down any contrary thoughts, in order to remain mentally consistent with such a tremendous sacrifice. I guess it just goes to show that cognitive dissonance can be overcome.

Of all of the Witness doctrines that is the most reprehensible and repugnant, could there be one that exceeds the matter of blood transfusions for children? I mean really, if for some reason you were still clinging to any part of the JW belief system in a hope of not abandoning or being abandoned by friends and relatives, isn't this the one issue where you cannot bury your head? It is for me. It is the final nail in the coffin of the cult known as Jehovah's Witnesses.
