This is a question for believers of the WTS. Is there anything that the WTS could do to make you not believe anymore? What would it take for them to shatter your faith? Everyone has their breaking point. Whats yours?

The reason I ask this question is we all know about the false prophecies, the un thing, child molestation scandals etc. Many people still remain in the org. If the WTS told you you HAD to give some amount fo money, would you do it? Remember all the cults that had leaders that convinced them all to commit suicide. If the WTS told you to do that, would you leave then? What would it take?

    acuragirl,

Welcome to JWD! Although I applaud your courage in asking your question, I think the reason you are not getting a response to your post is that you have asked for believers to respond. There are not a lot of those (including myself) here. Although all are welcome, JWD is primarily a site filled with ex-JWs. If you stick around and read a bit you will find plenty of answers to your question. Most everyone on this site is here because they did reach a breaking point, and if you truly want an answer to your question, then either invite anyone to comment or read some of the stories on this board and you will hear heart rending experiences that you will find to be compelling.

If you are open to it, please share what your breaking point is, if you know it. It is not an easy question to answer because I, for one, did not know my breaking point when I was an active JW. Also, there was not just one breaking point for me...there were a lot of things that disturbed me in the 30 years that I was a JW, both large issues and small ones. I am not sure that I could tell you what the last straw was, although I could tell you many of the things that disturbed me over the years that made it possible for me to leave. I hope to see you post more and welcome you once again. Regards.

I understand your question and the replies you are getting are correct. I am still considered a JW as most on this board once were. I think if all JWs gave themselves a chance to listen ALL would change their minds, but it’s the mind control that the WTS has that stops them. If they applied Provs 18:13 “When anyone is replying to a matter before he hears [it], that is foolishness on his part and a humiliation.”, but they expect others to apply this and not themselves. But we know as we were once ourselves that if anyone comes with “discouraging“ news, or has “independed” thinking or worst still “apostate” thinking, then the JW blocks his ears and mind. But if you can get around this and actually get the oppounity to let a JW hear the false theology of the WTS and all their rotten deeds I’m sure ALL will change. My breaking point was when I read about 1914 and the pyramids, and then I read the COC book.

I asked my JW father-in-law this question as I was exiting. At first he just said, "Nothing". But he finally said -- sarcastically -- that if they published that Jesus didn't come to earth, that he didn't offer his life in sacrifice, and that his death didn't cover sins, then he would know they weren't god's organization.

There are lots of places to go from there, but unfortunately I didn't think of any at the time. So I don't know if he would have responded. I doubt it, but I wonder...

They already did it for me, 6 years ago, and I can never thank them enough
