I have a copy of the Watchtower Library 1995 CD, but I have 98 on my computer and I need to know if there is anyway I can run the 95 program on 98. Does anyone know?

Install it. There is nothing that you can break so give it a try.

If you mean you have Windows 98 (your operating system) and want to run the WT Library 95 (the edition you have) there should be no problem at all.

The year dates have nothing to do with one another in this case

Lady Lee sounds like she has the gist of it. I think there is a minimum necessary and in this case that is Windows 95.

Do you know how to load it up?

Since it was made in 95 it is not designed to run on the 98 platform. I installed it and when trying to run it I get the message

    Program Error

    ABNORMAL PROGRAM TERMINATE

    any ideas?

If not does anyone know where I can get a later version of the Watchtower Library CD?

I have the 93 version and have run it on Windows 95 and Win ME with no problems.

You do have to leave the CD in the drive. And it might be a good idea to reboot your system before you try to open it again.

I know I have the manual that comes with mine but can't put my hands on it right now to check the error codes.

There could be any number of issues (apart than your Windows version) with your (or anyone's) particular configuration that may cause the problem. It may simply be that your CD is damaged.

If memory serves me correctly, the 1995 edition of the Watchtower Library was actually still a 16-bit program, for compatibility with Windows® for Workgroups though it should not have any specific problems with newer versions of Windows, all of which provide a 16-bit subsystem for backward compatibility. (Windows 9x has a chiefly 32-bit kernel but also has a lot of 16-bit components intrinsic to the OS. Windows NT/2000/XP is built fully on 32-bit code, with 16-bit support only for the 16-bit application sub-system.)

A possibility could be to do with whether your hard drive is using a 32-bit 'protected mode' driver or not. (If it's not, general performance can be degraded, and Windows 98 can also have problems with some applications.) Go to Control Panel, double-click System, click the Performace tab, and check whether there are any problems indicated, such as "Compatibility Mode Paging reduces overall system performance"

Maybe what I say defeats it's purpose, but Windows 98 is pretty old (Microsoft doesn't even have a support desk for it anymore) and I think because it's an old operating system it's running on it's last legs. I think just about everyone on here has the Watchtower Library CD 2001 edition. It's a lot better and of course it has more Watchtower articles on it leading up to the year 2001.

I use to have the 1993 edition until only about 2 years ago can you believe? But back then, I didn't use it online to debate Watchtower issues because I was so scared to look at sites like this! I mainly only used it for personal questions on the Bible and a quick look up on Bible issues. So I don't know maybe try another edition of the Watchtower Library CD -- maybe my really old dinosaur edition. :) Or maybe (I don't suggest this, be careful) take a risk and try to put on the 2001 edition -- you never know!

Have you tried uninstalling it and installing it again?
