sorry to hear about this - It is NOT life threatening

Celllulitis can be life threatening - it's a very serious infection that requires hospitalization.

Anemia is a blood disorder concerned with red blood cells.

Neutropenia is a blood disorder concerned with white blood cells - the ones that help fight infection.

You might want to google the words at least to get a basic understanding of some of the terminology so that when you meet with your hemotologist (blood specialist) you will be better able to participate in the treatment planning and decision-making.

    Best wishes for swift healing.

Anemia is a low red blood cell count. Neutropenia is an abnormally low number of a certain type of white blood cells. Red blood cells are what transports oxygen throughout your body. Neutrophils, along with other white cells, help fight infection.

There are many different causes these conditions that you would need to investigate with your physician.

    Please keep us posted.

About two months ago, I had a scare just like yours. I was already in the hospital being treated for something else. My doctor comes in and states you have "lymphocytosis" and said you've been having this come back on your labs, frequently. "I want you to see a hematologist/oncologist." Well, I was scared witless. The hematologist came in to visit me at the hospital. He ran some more blood tests. They thought I had something called Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Well, after the scare, it turned out to be nothing to worry about! So, don't get too worried until you get ALL the info.

I'm not worried, just wondering what the hell it was, I am not the sort to worry until I know I have something to worry about, have been operated on 14 times in my life so Hospitals don't scare me much. What with 42 months in Vietnam, and 6 total years in army and 19 in the navy I have been tossed around a bit. But when this came up it was something new so decided to ask what the heck it was. thanks for the help and the info. much appreciated. Buff

    Thanks for popping back in.

Are you home from the hospital now? Any update on medical stuff that you'd like to share?

Let us know, if you are comfortable enough to tell.

I wnt to hospital yesterday 10/27 for internal med appt. they were concerned about blood problems but said that hematology would take care of me on that, so have been biding my time until i can get over there and see them. Wont be until the 03rd of Nov, then back to them at I.M. on 17 Nov and will have to wait and see what hematology/onconology say and do. I am not worried because it may all be related to protein problems or something, If not then I will just have to suck it up if it is the big C stuff. Still not worried though. will keep informed.
