    Imagine this;

    You have been on the fence for a while, but it is becoming more and more apparent to you that your leaving is just a matter of time, and that soon, very soon, it will all come to a head. You wait for that phone call from the elders like Winston Smith awaited the bullet in the back of his head. You know that day is coming, you just don’t know when. Each time an elder comes up to you at a meeting saying he “wants to talk” about something, your heart sinks. If they deal with you on their own terms, they’ll intimidate you into confessing everything from apostasy to having kidnapped the Lindberg baby. They have done this before, and they are very, very good at it. They will try to shame you. They will try to break you any way they can… in their “loving” way, of course.

    But what if you had some people you could call to help. People who knew the ropes, who have been down the same path, but most importantly, have moved on to enjoy happy, loving, and productive lives. People who would be there with you when it all hits the fan, to be your friends and advocates when the elders come to call, and who won’t let the elders or anyone else get away with telling you that you are destined to wind up on the trash heap.

    Imagine a responsive group of people that are willing to show support, and prove that the society’s thug methods just don’t wash any more. A diverse group; some Christian, some non-religious, old and young, men and women - but every one of them knowledgeable about what is going on, and all more informed about the Watchtower society than the elders themselves. Can you imagine what it would be like for those witch hunters having to deal not with one intimidated brother or sister, but a room filled with happy people who just won’t take their crap?

    I think a lot of people would be willing to drive a few hours on fairly short notice to be part of a group like this.

    I can imagine that would be a great help to people. They could help accompanying people to judicial committee's with prepared info which is hard to do yourself when you're going through it and emotional.

    Also, having some social support such as people to go on family outings would be a big help too.

    Nice post ChuckD,

    There are groups like the one you mentioned, just few and far between.

    Hi Chuck;

    People like that should be awailable, but I guess many will find them fairly difficult to find.

    Maybe we should make the job finding people like that more easy? What about making a webpage, listing people who would be willing to help out in a situation?

    If anyone think that's a good idea, I could make such a page and publish it on the Watchtower Observer. I'm sure Randy would post it as well!

    Anyone interested in doing so, please send me a mail, [email protected]

    A pic, and a little info on the person would be handy - and; naturally, phone-number(s) and other contact info.

    We should try to find some politicans or other officials who would be willing to be "witnesses" if a meeting is aclled as well!

    Brother D,

    That is the "beauty" of the judicial committee form of justice, three men acting as judges, jury and executioners. The accused is allowed no advocate. Even if he disagrees with the inevitable direction the proceedings are heading, he/she must meekly go along so as not to be judged "unrepentant".

    No obververs are there to say: "I think the accused just made a salient point."

    If the decision is appealed, the case is reheard by three similar men, chronies of the first three. Not only is the original decision almost always upheld, it will be "payback" time during the reinstatement process.

    Could the deck be stacked any better?

    it would also be cool if this team of troubleshooters knew how to convert everyday household items and other junk into tanks and rocket launchers in a pinch.

    We could travel around in an old serial-killer-style conversion van, and I could cut my hair like Mr. T. I have most of the jewelery already.
