Grimes Posnikov, the Human Jukebox died at 59.

For anyone who visited the San Francisco Wharf in the 70's and 80's you will certainly remember him.

The article said he developed schizophrenia and died from alcohol posioning as a homeless man.

I ran across this site that contains a picture.

You mean no one on this board has ever seen the human jukebox? As far as street performers go, I always remembered him because he was so unique.

I don't think I ever heard of him,sad story for sure. So many people with schizophrenia, end up on the streets and are misunderstood.

Saw him, hell, I put money in the slot he'd carved in the cardboard box (and he took it). I can't remember the song I requested (he had a list, as I recall, printed on the outside of his "jukebox." My kids loved it. This was SF, near Ghirardelli Square, late 1970s.

Thanks for posting this, Startingover. This is such a sad story.

He did make his mark in history. Too bad it ended up this way, instead of a happy ending.

I have never heard of him, but love the mini-biography about him. Another icon gone.
