With Google's plans to have a digital library of books that fall under public domain, would you like to see CoC in there also? I understand that while Raymond is still with us on earth, he makes his living from these books. But I just wonder when he leaves us, will he allow his books to be released under public domain? Who is he entrusting the copyrights to? He has no family that I am aware of. I can only imagine how many more JW's would actually read the books online. Many are too scared to check them out from the library or to order one from a bookstore. Heck, I bet defd would read them if they were available online.

"Because it plans to show only snippets from copyrighted books, Google argues its scanning project constitutes "fair use" of the material."

I dont think snippets would help people very much, although I am sure they would be read, over and over, by lurkers.

BTW I would not assume that R F had made "millions", but good luck to him if he can live on the proceeds

Just a thought but if Google win their case and can put up extracts of copyrighted material, would that help "Quotes" in his battle with the WTS??

Hard to say. Google would tackle this in court on US soil. Whereas Quotes' will take place on Canadian soil. But this whole Bern Convention thang kind of puts copyright issues into a great big gray area. Typically, US courts will not look to other court cases which are held in other countries.

Tis' true that Raymond isn't banking millions from his books. I don't think that was his intention in the first place --- to make gobs of money. But I really hope he has plans to release his books to the public domain when his time on earth is up. I strongly feel that most witnesses' curiosity would compel them to read through it if it were on the web.
