    Hello, everyone!

I've been gone for a while (moved from Cali to Houston) and still don't have the Internet at home, but wanted to pop in here and say "howdy!" and let you know I ain't been 'kilt. :)

So, since I have the use of this computer for the next half an hour, how have you all been???

    Hi, Sherry and Luna.

Yes, the move went as well as could be expected. We were on the road in moving vans when we heard of Katrina. We got into Houston the same day as many of the evacuees from Lousiana. It was tense. I spoke to a man in the hotel laundry who had watched his wife be swept away. She hurled her 9 month at him as she passed him, he caught the baby, but could not catch her. He was trying to figure out the laundry machines and watch his two little daughters, and just cry at the same time. I took the little ones for a bit and helped him sort the lights and darks, but felt so very helpless to be of any real assistance.

We had problems with the sale of our house, the buyers loan fell through the day escrow was supposed to close so we spent a month in a hotel. Rita came through and I was pretty worried since we were in the top floor of an In Town Suites at the time and the building really rattled with the wind. We bought our home once escrow closed on our CA home, and moved in ten days later. We drive by that In Town Suites every day and it feels weird.

Most of the people in the hotel were evacuees. The stories I heard during those 30 days were enough to tear your heart out of your chest. They made any problems we had seem pretty small.

Busy interviewing and getting our son caught up in school. CA schools are way behind the Cy-Fair school he is enrolled in. He's in the 2nd grade and working on stuff he would not have been exposed to until the 4th grade or later in Newark. It's amazing. Texas is a whole new world... lol I love it! :)
