    Hello!

I have a dear friend who was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the duodenum or small bowel cancer. It is an extremely rare form of cancer and, as I understand it, not much is known about treating it.

My friend has met with one doctor and is scheduled for a 2nd opinion this week. He may go to a clinic in Texas for a 3rd opinion. He is strong and optimistic and is determined to beat this thing.

Does anyone on this board know anything about this specific type of cancer? Any assistance/information you can supply will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

I'm sorry, but I don't know anything about this cancer. I do, however, live in Texas -- Dallas, to be precise -- so if your friend needs someone to talk to let me know! Always willing to listen!

    Hugs,

    Nina

Just going through the same thing w. my sis, who has a rare form, neurendocrine of the liver

and possibly pancreas. At first thought to be pancreatic cancer. Nothing good about either one.

I wish your friend the best; I would say research, get online, find message boards...she found only 3

hospitals in US who have specialists in hers and is getting scheduled with one of them.

I hate this disease; I will keep your friend in my prayers.

Being told you have cancer is one of the scariest things that you will ever hear. When I was diagnosed a few years ago, my naturopath recommended a book by Dr. Bernie Siegel, an M.D. who operated on and treated people with cancer for 30 years until his retirement. It's called "Love, Medicine and Miracles" and I strongly recommend the book for anyone who's ever been diagnosed with cancer. It helped me keep my sanity and gave me hope of recovery.
