Judicial Committee experiences....

I have been in a few JC/"conferences" but nothing really happened to me (not DA'd or DF'd). The worst one was when an elder kept slapping the back of his hand to me and my wife in a derogatory manner (looking back I should have kicked the crap out of him) telling us to drop the fact that my wifes brothers wife (who no one liked) was sleeping around with everyone (he was probably "taking his turn" as well, and thus the lack of motivation to do anything). I was thinking the other day how I should have handled myself differently, grew some b@lls (most of the JC/committees was when I was younger and intimidated) and told the elders what I really thought. Anyway, I was thinking, wouldn't it be great during a JC (once the ball gets rolling) to pull out a rock and say the words of our Lord:

    John 8:7

But when they continued asking him, he looked up and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw the first stone at her." (WEB)

    Matthew 7:1-3

  • "Judge not, that ye be not judged.

  • For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

  • And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?"

I went to one JC meeting I actually enjoyed. My younger sister was living with me and was 17 at the time. I was 20 and had been df'd twice. They tried to have an elder's meeting with her, without my knowledge. I stomped in about 15 minutes after it started. She was almost in tears. My stepdad is sitting in the parking lot. I pulled her out of there and let them have it. They had also been trying to find out who my baby's dad was, and I wouldn't tell. I got to tell them off for that, too.

But we weren't judged during our JC, they only decided whether or not we are repentant.
