Howdy all,
I'm looking for a good annotated bible to better understand the context and historical meaning of biblical stories. I'm looking at both the Oxford Annotated Bible and the Oxford Bible Commentary. Can anyone recommend one or the other? What's the difference?
I prefer either the Doc Martins or KEDS Authorized version myself.
Given the scope of the subject there are few individual commentaries that would fit you request however the Anchor Bible series both the 10 volume set and the many subsequent supplements. This of course is expensive. Many libraries have the 10 volumes. Or check Amazon for used sets. I find the set useful but not really up to date or as objective as later works.
Could you all let me know why you like those particular sets?
Rarely does the material represent the latest or best but it does introduce me to new insights about a wide range of material. The scope of the study is it's best feature.
