I didn't join. I was born in. As for my granparents and my mother...I think it would have happened with or without information.

If "newly interested" oones knew that should they become JWs along with their families and then later leave the dubs and join a church, that their children would be forced to abandon them, I'm sure they'd think again!

The thought never occured to me to check them out first!
This was back around 94/95 and I didn't own a computer then, but I think if it happened now I would check them out...And I would be VERY,VERY, FORTUNATE indeed if I came accross JWD and read the truth about the truth from you guys!
So that being said.....I hope we are helping people to see the truth about it all before they get 'in' and then get warped!

I was in for 25 years, more or less, but if I'd known about some of the rules, then I doubt I would have ever bothered

I probably would have studied for a while and asked more questions that they couldn't have answered with just their bibles.I would have planted a lot of seeds of doubt, never got baptized and walked away at some point telling all who want to know it's because I cannot conscientiously support beliefs that are false.

I think given that inforamtion is widely available now and people are still joining, the answer is probably that most people would still have joined. I dont think most people research things.
We do, because were all interested in finding and sharing accurate information. But generally I think once people have decided on something they are motivated to think its right, and not challenge it much (as a generalisation, of course)
