Have you ever entered one? Or has someone you know entered one? Have yall had any success?

I've been looking at all the recipe/cooking contests to be found online and I'm just wondering what it takes to win one of these things.

Anyone have any tips for success in this area?

I've yet to enter one and hope to one day.

Check with Good Morning America/Today Show, Food Network, Kraftfoods.

Sometimes they have contests going on.

In fact, Emeril has one now!

I won $50 from Better Homes and Gardens Magazine once. Sadly the recipies that win in their contest seem to be the "semi-homemade" ones. It was definitely not one of my better recipes.

One of my hobbies is making new recipes. I've submitted entries to lots of contests but have never gotten any response (except for the one above). My hope is to win the Pillsbury Bake Off some year so I can win the million bucks.

When I was in high school, I took a food class, and they had a cake decorating contest. I was one of the only guys in the class. I ended up winning first place. I got an award, and I excitedly brought it home and showed my mother, and she got very upset about it, and said "Why couldn't it be for football or something like that". It did not go over very well....

Well, I'm glad you got some recognition for your efforts, Rebel8. Even if the ones they prefer were semi-homemade ones. I hope to enter and win the Pillsbury Bake-Off some year, too. At least to place in it. I guess it would be germaine to find out what precisely they're looking for and some good tips for succeeding.

Nope. I wanted to enter the recipe contest in the Southern Living magazine where the grand prize is $100,000, but you've gotta be an American to enter the contest.

This is my very best recipe. I am a little fuzzy on the times I have ever entered it in any contest, but it has been a hit at home for years.

    Holiday Fruit Cake Recipe

You will need the following: A cup of water, a cup of sugar, four
large brown eggs, two cups of dried fruit, a teaspoon of salt, a cup
of brown sugar, lemon juice, nuts, and a bottle of whiskey.

Sample the whiskey and check for quality.

Take a large bowl. Check the whiskey again. To be sure it is the
highest quality, pour one level cup and drink. Repeat. Turn on the
electric mixer, beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add
one teaspoon of sugar and beat again.

Make sure the whiskey is still okay. Cry another tup. Turn off the
mixer. Beat two leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of
dried fruit. Mix on the tuner. If the fired druit gets stuck in the
beaterers, pry it loose with a drewscriver.

Sample the whiskey and check for tonsisticity. Next, sift two cups
of salt. Or something. Who cares? Check the whiskey. Now sift the
lemon uice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Spoon. Of sugar of
    something. Whatever you find.

Grease the oven. Turn the cake tin to 350 degrees. Don't forget to
beat off the turner. Throw the bowl out of the window. Check the
whiskey again and go to bed.

Kudos to ya, hideme! You should "carry on" with your success!

Oh, waaaahhh, Mary! That seems so unfair! Maybe they were concerned with providing transportation to the finalists for the "cook-off", eh?

LOL, Jeanniebeanz! I hate fruitcake, except for the one with dates only, but this one kinda "takes the cake" dudnit?
