My youngest had to write this outline for history.
I. The men and women of
II. The townspeople in believed in witches. They did not like witches and so they got rid of them, either by burning them, hanging them, or drowning them.
III. Tituba was a female servant of Samuel Parris. She had a magic powers that Samuel’s daughter bragged about she was also a form of entertainment. She worked for one of the girls fathers.
IV. The children are becoming pathological liars. They also crawled underneath tables and chairs and made strange noises. The children sometimes shook and trembled with nightmares. They were acting that way because Tituba was telling them stories and voodoo and other things.
V. The two 1 st victims were Sarah Good and Sarah Osborn. They were good victims because they both had no particular standing in the community. Sarah Good was a beggar and Sarah Osborn was married to a servant.
VI. When the people began touching Sarah Osborn’s body she discharged witchcraft into the bodies of the tormented children. While doing this the whole town saw what had happened.
VII. Tituba stated that she had been forced to torture the children by Sarah Good and Sarah Osborn and two other witches who she couldn’t identify. She also filled the ears of the justices and crowds with her tales.
VIII. Some of the other group member’s motivations for accusing other people of witchcraft because they did not want all the blame to be placed on them and it would help take some of the heat off of their backs.
IX. The townspeople wanted her to be found guilty because Abigail Williams had stated that she was being tormented by Rebecca Nurse.
X. Giles Corey refused to plead not guilty because he knew he was already condemned to die anyway he also said that the ghosts appear as witnesses and promise men’s life away.
