    The Levitical Principle

"You shall not plant your field with two kinds of seed." - Leviticus 19:19.

For the Israelite under the Law Covenant the consequence of such action as mixing two different kinds of seed is not all-important. What is important is that God said not to do it regardless of the consequence. No doubt such an undertaking would involve difficulty in harvest with different kinds of crops becoming ripe for harvest at different times. Nevertheless, all of God's laws are given for the benefit of his subjects. But beyond that the precepts given in the law reveal the way in which God conducts himself in his interaction with mankind. In light of this law, regarding seed, what sort of lesson might be learned about the way in which God conducts himself in his dealings with men?

Let us consider the celebrated Parable of the Tares. "The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, sir, didst not thou sow good seed in they field: from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, an enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until harvest: and in time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn." - Matthew 13:24-30.

First we note that the householder had acted in accordance with the Levitical Principle by sowing his field with seed of one sort, that of wheat. Then we find that his enemy had violated that principle so as to cause harm by sowing the field with seed of another sort, that of tares or darnel. Remarkably the whole parable is based upon one principle contained in the law covenant regulating the use of fields in regard to seed sowing and harvest. We learn that observance of the principle would have yielded good results, while disobedience yielded bad. Nevertheless the parable was not given for the benefit of those who wished to sow fields. There is a moral lesson to glean.

The lesson is this, that God, through the agency of his Son, sowed his field, that of the earth, with righteous seed when he declared the message of the coming of the Kingdom of Heaven. Those who received him and his message became heirs to eternal life in his heavenly barn. The Devil, through the agency of the religious leaders, sowed seed of another sort through their teaching that Jesus was not the promised Messiah. Those who believed their doctrine and followed them were bound for destruction. The parable reveals that God does not sow his field with seed of two different sorts at the same time.

Those well acquainted with the teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses may have already grasped the point for which I have reiterated the Levitical Principle. Namely, that the teaching of Jehovah's Witnesses that God has selected two different classes of people on the earth today at the same time and approved them for salvation is false. Now I will proceed to explain why it is false.

First and foremost the Scriptures do not teach that any of those destined for heavenly life are alive on the earth today. All such ones of that class were sealed and subsequently resurrected in the first century with the second coming of Christ for the destruction of Jerusalem and the end of the Jewish system of worship. A careful study of the gospel writings, the writings of Paul, and a reevaluation of the prophecies in the Book of Revelation in the light of its writing prior to the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 C.E. in conjunction with the parallel prophecies in Daniel reveal the certainty that God, in keeping with the Levitical Principle, does not sow his field with seed of two different sorts. Thus, there are no members of the heavenly class alive on earth today. All who claim such status are liars.

The means by which Jehovah's Witnesses have distorted Biblical teaching in support of their doctrine is based upon numerous anachronisms. First, and foremost, they have misapplied the prophecies in Matthew 24 to modern times. The fulfillment of those prophecies occurred in the first century. Of late they have admitted this, but in an effort to circumvent the obvious they claim those prophecies have a greater fulfillment in modern times in relation to salvation for a so-called remnant of the heavenly class. Secondly, they misapply the prophecies in Revelation and Daniel by assuming a post Jerusalem-destruction date for the writing of Revelation. These are the two false pillars upon which the 1914 doctrine is based, which is the fulfillment of a misinterpretation of the seven times mentioned in Daniel 4 - lies upon lies upon lies, and with what effect?

The false doctrines of Jehovah's Witnesses have the same effect as all false doctrines, which altogether are lies. And not unlike the first lie they result in condemnation for those who believe them. Lies are taught by false teachers whose desire is to have men follow after them. They are going off into destruction and so are those who follow them. The only way to heavenly life in the first century was through Jesus Christ. Thus he was the only way to life - period. Today, the way to earthly life, which is life nonetheless, is through that same agency. The Levitical Principle is thus preserved. God does not sow his field with seed of two different sorts at the same time. The doctrine of Jehovah's Witnesses replaces the agency of Jesus Christ with that of another - the so-called anointed remnant, which leads people away from Christ and into perdition.

You Witnesses, ponder hard upon these things, real hard.

I have come to believe that Math. 24, Rev. and Daniel are being fulfilled now. In Math. 24, we are in the major fullfillment. I believe we are in the great tribulation and all the prophesies are coming true, with Bush as one of the star players.

Welcome, Naveel. Nice first post. Well done.

You said to "ponder hard, ...real hard."

Pondering away, there came one day, a epiphany: How could such an infinitely wondrous expression of universe and life result from the blunderings of the tiny circumscribed man-god that is portrayed within the Bible that battles for supremacy with one of his wayward sons?

Are there really boundaries and limits to our true Source and Sustenance? I wondered. Are the stories of the waring patriarchal deity true? Or just the minds feeble attempts at reducing and trying to make sense out of what can not be diminished, and is forever too vast and huge for the carnal mind to ever begin to comprehend?

Pondering, as you suggest, it became very clear that it is the minds concepts, ideas and beliefs regarding Truth, which are small, feeble, and grossly mistaken.

It becomes ever more clear each day, that the only, the only boundaries and limits to what the word G-O-D points to, are in our minds and the "holy" scriptures it transcribes.

    Ponder this.
