What exactly happened to the Quotes website?

  Hey everyone,

  Sorry I am so out of the loop... I haven't been around for awhile, plus I am rather new to this site... I have heard bits and pieces but what exactly DID happen to the quotes site? I heard they were being sued by the Watchtower Society or something... and now it's GONE!? I am pretty sure that I was using it back in October or November. I'm sorry, I'm sure that you've all been over this a million times before, but if anyone doesn't mind dealing with a newbie's ignorance and filling me in, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

  The WTBS sued him for copyright infringment and he was forced to take the site down. There are a couple of mirror sites, somewhere around here are links to them, I believe they have the same information.

  What kind of court did they sue him in? And what were they so mad about... it's not like he didn't give them credit. They were just mad cause the quotes were quotes that they'd probably like to forget, correct?

  It is my understanding that the case never went to court. Rather, the quotes guy did not have resources nor will to go through the lengthy, expensive, and emotionally draining task of defending himself in copyright court. So instead, he agreed to take the site down and the Watchtower agreed to suspend their case. Interestingly, I think their reputation is hurt more in this situation than if he had gone to court. They now blatantly appear to be a bully.
