How much do you actually read of what is on this board?

I get the newspaper in the morning and although I know there is a lot of effort put into putting it together, I always read the headlines and if something sparks my interest, I read it. Which is how it is on boards like this too. I read over the active topics and if something sparks an interest, I open it up and read it and respond if I have something to say. In my time on boards, I have gone from the type of poster who read everything and every response, to someone more like this. When I did read everything, I found I thought about those boards to much and let them become to much of my life. Even becoming emotionally attached to people, in debates and other negative things. So now I just read what interest me, and on a board like this it is common to see subject repeat, so you tend to skip something if you felt it was covered well enough in the past. In any sense, I was just wondering, "how much do you actually read of what is on this board?"

I'll usually get a gander at the topics that grab my attention. Like this one. It looked interesting and I thought it would've been spoken on long before now, but it stayed in limbo and I was a little curious. So I looked. I was busy earlier but wanted to see what anyone had to say on it. Nobody said anything, so, here I am.

If the topic really snatches my attention, I'll take a look. It really helps if you can make your voice stand out in your opening statement. If your one of the folks I have particular affection for, I'll be certain to read it. I may not always comment, but I'll at least, have read it.

If I don't have anything to add to it, I'll prepare a sub-heading where the topic goes to let you know that I was paying attention to what you were saying. It'll be blank, but over head you'll see the statement: " I'm listening !!! "

There's not enough time in life to read every single post, and then somethings are way over my head. Too deep. Some of you have such extensive knowledge. I can't hold on thru some of the things that you're into because they are so deep.

when you first come here, you want to read everything. it's the nature of the beast. it's part of losing ones religion. you can't help but soak it all up.

after a while it changes, which is the way it should be. the board isn't an end point for people, it's a transition point. some people go faster, and others slower.

me, i am just at the point where i am phasing it out, so i only read and respond to a small fraction of the threads that interest me. it took me about 6 months. according to stats right now, i was the second most frequent poster in the last six months. but i am not even on the list for the top posters in the last one month.

if you are ever confused about where you are going in life, always trust the stats, lol...

I suppose for those having plenty of time they can read all posts but with those having less time, the way is to read only the topics that catch their eye.

I never did read them all. I open Active Topics and scroll down through. Anything debating scripture or doctrine I ignore automatically, other topics I read if they sound interesting. Once in awhile if I'm really bored I'll open more of them.
