N***a please!
Lol, thats hilarious. But i'm pretty sure that its simply showing that for some reason, a significant number of bought that MLK dvd along with planet of the apes, or perhaps they share a director/producer,etc.
The planet of the apes was about racism on an extremely unbelievable scale. Remember the white man was the minority; and the white race was considered dumb, ignorant, unable to learn, and barbaric. So, I'm thinking that a lot of people that bought the Planet of The Apes were, probably, into movies about black people and/or racism. They should of put "American History X" on there too. That movie was something else!
Good point, MsMcDucket. Although the three species of apes as depicted in the film seem a little too close for comfort to prominent racial stereotypes, which I feel cross the line from racial commentary into the stuff of prejudice.
The Gorillas have dark skin, and are violent, thuggish, and unintelligent.
The Chimpanzees have white skin, and are rational and conscientious.
The Orangutangs have yellow skin and one is depicted as a Buddha-like figure. They are philosophers and scientists, though ultimately foolish and inconsequential.
Similar racial stereotype comparisons can be made with the alien races on Star Trek. Nevertheless, I feel the Wal-Mart ad presented here is the result of coincidence.
yes ,
I would be interested in knowing what the esteemed Dr Martin Luther King had to do with the movie , "Planet Of The Apes. What crawler put thosse two together?

You will always have racism if you look hard enough. Although, racism in many ways is just a level of actually admiting it in yourself.
Roddy Mcdowell (Planet of the Apes) was in the 7th Annual American Cinema Awards (1990) with... James Woods.
Halle Berry (Dorothy Dandridge) was in Tsunami Aid: A Concert of Hope (2005) with... James Woods.
James Woods... was in the movie "Contact" with Martin Luther King.
Obviously, Walmart utilizes a "six degrees of separation" crawler.

You know, my wife made the same connection immediately. I guess I'm the knee jerk racist here. Sigh.
On the bright side, I WILL be renting these discs soon. I love the movies, but only have the dimmest recollections of the series. I remember seeing the premier episode in motel room with my brother when we were on a family vacation, so it must have been a summer replacement series.
I think Ms. McDucket's conclusion is the most likely to be correct.
