Not that it makes any damn sense whatsoever, but this is the "proof" they'd give you:

    ***

    w04 3/1 p. 13 ‘The Faithful Slave’ Passes the Test! ***

" In 1914, Jesus was enthroned as King, and soon it was time to inspect that "slave." For the most part, he found that the "slave" had proved itself "faithful and discreet." Hence, he appointed it "over all his belongings." (Matthew 24:45-47)

    w04 3/1 p. 14 ‘The Faithful Slave’ Passes the Test! ***

"The kingdom of the heavens will become like ten virgins that took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were discreet. For the foolish took their lamps but took no oil with them, whereas the discreet took oil in their receptacles with their lamps." (Matthew 25:1-4) The ten virgins remind us of anointed Christians before 1914. They had calculated that the bridegroom, Jesus Christ, was about to make an appearance. Hence, they "went out" to meet him, boldly preaching that "the appointed times of the nations" would end in 1914.—Luke 21:24.

Not understanding things clearly, anointed Christians thought that "the bridegroom was delaying." Confused and facing hostility from the world, generally they slowed down and virtually stopped the organized public preaching work. Like the virgins in the parable, spiritually speaking they "nodded and went to sleep," even as unfaithful professed Christians did after Jesus’ apostles died.—Matthew 25:5; Revelation 11:7, 8; 12:17.

Then in 1919 something unexpected happened. We read: "Right in the middle of the night there arose a cry, ‘Here is the bridegroom! Be on your way out to meet him.’ Then all those virgins rose and put their lamps in order." (Matthew 25:6, 7) Just when things seemed darkest, there was a call to get active! In 1918, Jesus, "the messenger of the covenant," had come to Jehovah’s spiritual temple to inspect and cleanse God’s congregation. (Malachi 3:1) Now, anointed Christians needed to go out and meet him in the earthly courtyards of that temple. It was time for them to "shed forth light."—Isaiah 60:1; Philippians 2:14, 15.

    The Appointment in 1919

WT 1990 3/15 p. 14 ‘The Faithful Slave’ and Its Governing Body

21 In 1918, when Jesus Christ inspected those claiming to be his slaves, he found an international group of Christians publishing Bible truths for use both inside the congregation and outside in the preaching work. In 1919 it truly turned out to be as Christ had foretold: “Happy is that slave if his master on arriving finds him doing so. Truly I say to you, He will appoint him over all his belongings.” (Matthew 24:46, 47) These true Christians entered into the joy of their Master. Having shown themselves “faithful over a few things,” they were appointed by the Master to be “over many things.” (Matthew 25:21) The faithful slave and its Governing Body were in place, ready for a widened assignment.

WT 1994 1/15 pp. 16-17 Shepherds and Sheep in a Theocracy

Jesus said that during his royal presence, he would identify a faithful body of followers, a “faithful and discreet slave,” and would appoint it over all his belongings. (Matthew 24:45-47; Isaiah 43:10) In 1919 that slave was identified as the remnant of anointed Christians. Since then, as represented by the Governing Body

So why would Christ have appointed a religion in 1919 who was teaching.......

In 1918 when Jesus should inspect and select the "slave class" then at time the leading men at WT was serving spiritual food that was polluted (false doctrines). See WT 1960 July 15 pp.435-6. And they have done it several times since 1918.

They say that their going from 20,000 odd members in 1919 to 6,000,000 today is indisputable proof that the FDS doctrine is true and they have God's blessing. That is what always gets said whenever that question is put to JW apologists.

Whenever they have it pointed out to them that the growth is flat and even in reversal in some places, the reply is usually "apostate lies!". I know, I've seen it often enough.

Growth in numbers is not a proof that an org has God's blessing since other groups such as the Mormons can show much better increases than the JWs. As for that 1919 inspection it is a fairy tale like many others that the GB have put up. An invisible inspection hey? Were they the only ones that saw it? It is obviously one of Rutherford's many grandiose lies, he was a neurotic psychopath who thought that John the apostle had prophesied about him in the book of Revelation 1900 years earlier, he was in jesus's revelation to John. Everyone knew him as an aggressive deluded drunkard and everyone disliked him. How could a spiritual miscreant like him pass any inspection and be given authority over the church?

One proof they claim is that they are the only ones who keep thier congregation clean by expelling thousands a year for being sinful humans just like thier loving Lord Jesus.

I thought it was supposed to be love that was the identifying mark?
