I posted this a few years ago and thought that I would giv e you an update. MIL still does not talk to me and is not allowed in my house.

I remember that post..........that letter she sent you pisses me off even more today then when I read it back then. I just watched my mother go through shunning in her own home a few months ago, and it was infuriating. I am glad you are not letting your mil come to your home and shun you. How dare they even THINK that would be an option??!!
I am sorry to hear things have not changed. How is your wife feeling about it? Do the kids know what is going on?

Yeah, I sincerely agree, I hope she's not having contact with the kids. Sounds like a real headcase. It's funny how she can take a letter that is basically the beginning of shunning you because you're supposedly not worthy of communicating with or so evil that you could contaminate her, and she makes it sound like the letter's something heartbreaking for her! It's like the letter is supposed to make YOU feel sorry for HER because she is going through something so stressful and heart-wrenching...
Eh, actually I do feel sorry for her. Her loss if she doesn't want to socialize with you...
