A little something for the conspiracy theorists - 24 years apart:

    1981 In Review

    1. Prince Charles got married
    2. Liverpool crowned soccer Champions of Europe
    3. Australia lost the Ashes tournament
    4. Pope Shot

    2005 In Review

    1. Prince Charles got married
    2. Liverpool crowned soccer Champions of Europe
    3. Australia lost the Ashes tournament
    4. Pope Died

So in the future, if Prince Charles decides to remarry, someone please warn the Auzzies, EUFA, and the Pope!

    Thank You.

Edited to alter mistype - Pope was shot and didn't die in 1981 - thanks Pole.

Sorry to bother you, but as a member of a 96% Catholic nation, I have to ask: which pope died in 1981?

Good catch Pole. You're quite right. He was only shot at. Still not the best of days for the Roman Pontiff, though, huh?

Reminds me of a book I once read called "The Zero Factor" about American Presidential assassination attempts. It was a work of fiction based on all the Presidents who came to office in a Zero year being assassinated. Reagan, of course, came to office in 1980, but was only shot and didn't die.

It suggested that there would be an attempt on the President that would come to office in 2000.

We're not out of the woods yet, boys!

Speaking of, the guy that shot Pope John Paul in 1981 was released today... I think he goes back to Turkey or wherever to probably serve sentences for some other unrelated crimes. At least, that's what I heard.
