This is about my sister "in the flesh".

She is finally divorsed from this brother a$$hole, and now she has a new boyfriend. Or well it is just the beginning of a possible relationship. Anyway the elders already are talking about her DF I think, they can almost not wait.

This brother she was married to, was a real bad one. He abused her physically, was drunk most times, and even dangerous for their (small) children, like driving drunk with them. But he is close friends with the elders and has a position as MS in the cong. They do not believe a word she says, and just tell her, that they are no cops.
However they already found out of her new relation. Well I can guess what is going to happen....

Anyway those elders are really not fair in this case. even the elders in my cong speak bad about it. But what can you do. They are some kind of semi-gods....

    Hi DB,

Sounds all too familiar. For some reason they just don't take sisters' words seriously. Seems like the men always get the benefit of the doubt while the ladies get lectured.

Are there any other witnesses to the facts of how her husband has treated the family? Or does he put on a good show and also lies?

Wish your sister the best. Juni

Sorry to hear this, Danny. Did she ever file reports with the authorities, about his behaviour? That would lend a little weight to her words. However if the knives are out, they will probably follow through with their intention to DF her. That's just the way it is

For some reason this is certainly true. At least in her congregation it is like that.

Yes, he puts on a nice show, and she gets all the blame. There are no witnesses to his actions of course, or at least not many not clear.

She did go to the autorities once. And the elders did talk with the brother, but he was so humble and sorry. You know....
Most of his actions aren't that bad, he is not beating he up or something. Just a lot of little things.

She will probably get DF-ed. Well I only hope it will open her eyes...

Sorry to hear about that. This is a very common scenario. I know several cases like that in my own city. Unfortunately, the WTS can be a haven for domestic abusers because as long as they put on a good show for the elders, they are safe from discipline. The WTS is an extremely sexist organization where women are always treated as second class to the "head" of the family. Hopefully she will see the organization for what it truly is and make her escape.
