Visiting the sick...

while out in service. Remember that trick to waste time.

My elderly mother is sick and she gets visitors from her congregation. They always seem to find time to do it when they are supposed to be out preaching. To be fair, she does get an occasional visitor who it not dressed up, but not often.

Funny thing about my mother, she fell the middle of last year and broke her hip. She hasn't been to a meeting since.

Now get this. Here is her son (me), an apostate encouraging her to go to meetings. It has been her whole life and at this stage of her life I feel she needs to stick with it. But she will not go, no way. I love telling JW's I know all about it.

Yep, sounds about right. You can 'count the time' doing friendly stuff. That's way better than starting a new street in door to door work.

Actually, they cannot count the time while visiting the sick. But it's a nice break when it's cold or hot. I only continued to count my time if an an unbaptized publisher was with us. Sisters who were shut-ins really did appreciate the visits and hearing about what was going on in service and especially if you brought a bible study over

I remember stopping to see a friend from another cong. that was inactive. It was always done on Sat. morning. Looking back I really need to apologize to him. I know he never got involved again and now is long gone.

At the time I just went by to waste time, but I can see now how it was laying a big guilt trip on him. Of course the clock was running. Anything done on Sat. morn while wearing a tie was counted.
