Well I just bought a new audioslave album. I though AWESOME, Ive never seen this album before. *Look at the back* Cool good songs plus a bunch of soundgarden covers too. Put that puppy in the cd player.... HMMM I dont remember Cochise having so much kettle drum.... *after long ass drum solo* WTF? Violins and shit? WTF.

FF to track 2. WTF? More violins? WTF? *look at case again*

OMFG its a string quartet tribute to audioslave?????? Let me tell you, rock doesnt translate at all into classical music. Plus the musicians were not that great.

Im going back to bed now.

I have to agree...I remember Metallica doing a gig with the symphonic orchestra and I never did take to most of that album....seemed strangely out of sync with their early days when they were definately not that commercial....and not as wealthy either!

Anyone here watch Moral Oral on Comedy Central?

I love the scene from one episode where they are driving in the car listening to "christian music" when a hard rock song starts playing "Buuuuuuuuurn in heaven!!! Buuuuuuuuuuuuuurn in heaven!!!!! Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurn in heaven!!!!"

I agree with some points but not all...

Yes, the string Quartet tribute series was downright awful. I downloaded three of them and they were the first of my mp3 collection that forced me to hit the delete button.

They were badly arranged, recorded, mixed and played.

I did not have the Audioslave one but any of their recordings are likely to put you off branching out into this field of music alltogether.

But I disagree about that genre of music in general. I have collected other modern classical such as Vanessa Mae and everything by the group Bond and although not all of their music could be described as "rock" it certainly is new and refreshing, and well done.

More disappointing was the orchestral versions of Queens greatest hits and same of Pink Floyd, although maybe worth a listen.

The album DiamondBlue refers to I believe is Metallica S & M Live with SF Orchestra and I have to say it is superb. I'm not a Metallica fan so I'm not comparing it to their other works which I tend to find just a little OTT, but that album I have listened to over and over again. Superb!
