I am trying to burn all my emails on a disc (there are thousands). I tried putting them in an offline folder but nothing shows up. How can I do this? I have outlook express on that email acct, if that matters. Thanks much for any help, carla

It's been a long time since I've used Outlook Express. I'm not a big fan of it. I don't like .pst files either.
I would create folders in Windows Explorer, then place Explorer side by side with Outlook. Then I'd select the emails I wanted to save and drag and drop the emails from outlook into the appropriate folder in Explorer. Then burn the folders to a CD.

IP_SEC
Open OE, Click Tools and then select options. Maintenance tab, store folder button. Select the whole path (should look something like this C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{6C7EC8E7-0A4F-4414-A485-548BEE55CAB5}\Microsoft\Outlook Express)
press ctrl+C to copy,
Close all of that, close OE
Start> Run and press ctrl+V to copy the path into the "open" text area.
Click OK
the folder that opens contains all of the .dbx files that contain your email and address book.
Copy all of those files to your cd
Note OE must be closed for you to be able to copy those files.
If you ever need to restore those msgs, in OE you click file, import, Messages, select import from OE6 store directory and browse to the folder on the CD with your backup of the dbx files.

or go to file/import-export/ and export the appropirate folder with your emails in it. There is a wizard for you too.
