Hehehe, this must be a common thing on TV lately, I've been seeing a lot of people mentioning this here on the board.

I'm watching "Two and a Half Men" right now, and in the pre-credits intro part, two of the main characters were talking, and one of them was bragging about the great sex he'd had the night before, and there was a knock on the door.

"Hello brother, we're here to tell you about the Good News!!"

The character invites them in to tell them about his nocturnal adventures.

I don't know if they were supposed to be Mormons or Jehovah's Witnesses, but they certainly reminded me of JWs with their white shirts and ties with the books in hand, and I loved how they looked absolutely mortified with the other character started bragging about sex.

Is it just me or are Mormons/JWs turning up at the butt of jokes a lot on TV lately??

I haven't been watching a lot of tv lately, so I don't know if they are showing up more now or not. What you've described seems like a more PC thing...where they could be any door to door evangelizing group

My fav JW mention was years ago on Saturday Night Live in a Land Shark skit. The land shark is known for luring people to open their doors by claiming to be delivery people or a neighbor or something. Then when the "householder" opens the door, they are attacked and eaten. By the end of this particular skit, people were ready for the evil land shark. When they heard a knock on the door and the voice identified itself as a Jehovah's Witness, they told him to come in and then beat him with a baseball bat. Oops, it wasn't the land shark after all but an actual dub who fell to the floor, Watchtowers flying. The audience loved it.

I watched this episide last night. I was in stitches!!

And I have this teenaged crush on the gal who is playing Alan's girlfriend, April Bowley I think her real name is, Ellie in the show. It's ridiculous since in real life that sort of girl would drive me nuts... hmm... I guess much like she is driving Alan nuts.

It is rather funny that not a single thing on tv about them is ever how the WTBTS wants to be portrayed. Charlie doesn't look out the window and say, "Look at those respectably dressed people with those well-behaved children spreading the good news about god's kingdom. I should really listen to what they have to say."
