I was talking to a friend yesterday and he mentioned in the late 60's following the instructions given in a brochure printed by the WTBTS as an aid to avoiding being drafted. He followed it to the letter and when he got to the end, it pretty much said, "Oh, and if you do all this and get in trouble with the law, we didn't tell you any of this."

Anyone have one of these little gems?

    I'll call the guy.

He said it had something to do with Jehovah's Witnesses and military service/conscientious objections, etc. I hadn't heard of it. There has got to be one in somebody's library. I have alot of the small brochures but this isn't one of them. He remembers it though. When I handed him the custody brochure, it made him remember this one.

It is another example of bending/breaking the law at the direction of the governing body.

There is a history of court cases debating JW eligibility to plead conscientious objector status vs. minister status.

Here is a story that mentions dishonesty to draft boards: http://www.freeminds.org/stories/mylife.htm

didnt the wtbs register their publications with the library of congress till a certain year?

if so, the older draft brochure might be found doing a search at the LOC website.
