For those who do not know, there is an article in Forbes Magazine about my lawsuit. I wish to take the time to thank everyone who have helped me in the past and who are helping me now. I will try to clear up a few things.

The Watchtower lawyers who live and work at the WTS HQ are Defendants. The WTS has been dropped as a Defendant but are tied to the lawsuit thru their lawyers and can be made liable for the same damages.

Some people are concerned that I may not be Lawrence Hughes. Simon will verify who I am. If you wish you can email me and we can exchange phone numbers. I will phone you if you wish.

I have been fighting the WTS in court for four years in several different court cases. This lawsuit will drag on for years. I don't think you have to worry about me taking your donation and leaving the country.

I have been without a lawyer for a year now and I have been representing myself. I will set up a Trust Fund with whichever lawfirm who will be representing me. The problem is, it may take weeks or months to get to a point where I have a lawfirm willing to take on this case and have a Trust Fund set up. Then, it would take weeks to receive the donations. By that time it may be too late and I may be forced into bankrupcy and the lawsuit may be cancelled by the Judge because I was not able to pay outstanding court costs from previous court hearings. I have called several lawyers about setting up a Trust Fund before I have found a lawfirm to represent me and none of them want to handle a Trust Fund because of past problems with them.

It has been commented that I do not post often enough. I will try to post more often. I work about 60 hours a week, I have been fighting the Watchtower in Court for four years, which consumes most of my spare time, I have moved recently, etc, etc. I am very busy but I will make the effort.

If you have anymore questions, please post here or email me.

HISTORY does not just happen........it is made. We can make HISTORY together. I need your help. I cannot due this alone.

I don't see the need for you to have to post if you are busy. As long as you can try to keep us somewhat updated on what is going on with the case I think that is fair enough particulary for those who have contributed. Otherwise Good luck and keep us posted P.S Is that article in the most recent Forbes Magazine? Hmmm.maybe I will post it on the fridge at home

For those who do not know, there is an article in Forbes Magazine about my lawsuit.

I checked out the Forbes issue for March, 06, and didn't see any article on the blood issue.

Is it only in the on line issue, or is it in another week/month issue of Forbes magazine?

What would be the heading in the mag.?

It's in forbes online in the religious section. You have to scroll down about three paragraphs then it's there. Here it is: http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2006/03/09/ap2583268.html

Father to continue battle with Jehovah's Witnesses over daughter's death

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) - A grieving father says he will continue his fight against Jehovah's Witnesses and their prohibition of blood transfusions after a court decision partially cleared the way for a wrongful death lawsuit.

Lawrence Hughes filed the 2004 claim as executor of the estate of his daughter, Bethany, who died from acute leukemia in 2002 at age 17 after repeatedly refusing conventional treatment because of the faith's teaching.

A judge decided Hughes cannot proceed with claims against the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society because the court cannot arbitrate religious dogma. But Hughes can continue suing lawyers Shane Heath Brady and David Miles Gnam, Witnesses who represented Bethany, her mother Arliss and the Watch Tower.

The judge said the lawyers were not in a position to advise Bethany objectively, so that she could make a free and informed decision. Brady called the ruling "silly."

Hughes contends that the ruling means "a religious sect or cult can be held responsible for the injury they inflict on others, whether it relates to deliberately giving out misleading medical information or using institutional coercion." He said he might appeal the ruling so he can also proceed against the Watch Tower directly.

Bethany's illness garnered attention across Canada and renewed public debate over the circumstances under which someone under age 18 should be able to decide on medical care.

Laurence please note that I only brought up a fund to give you peace about the monies. Personally I and I am sure many others are not worried about what happens afterward. I truly doubt there will be leftover mony but if there is for goodness sake there will be a case somewhere that can use it. In other words if anyone gives may it be to the cause, yours or the next person who needs it. That is probably too simplistic of an idea. I know the law is complicated. Love~BlondKate

Okay! Randy Watters is supporting Mr. Hughes. I'm sure he is well aware of the specifics. As well as the type of person Mr. Hughes is. If he is willing to step up to the plate, then the guy must be legitimate!

I'm going to put my money where my mouth is. I already sent one small donation, but I'm going to send $100 more.

It's one thing to get on this site and be all sympathetic about the JW plight and sound off about the wrongs the WTS commit, but it is a whole other thing to DO SOMETHING about it. This guy is trying to make a difference. Let's help him get it done!
