The WTS has made many feeble attempts throughout it's history to try to tie together the Bible with current (or not so current)geo-political events (ie: The current bookstudy publication). I can tell you what I think of those but it would require a lengthy post for another time. Quite simply, it's pathetic. I'm sure you agree.
