I had a sister call on me the other day and asked if I wanted to attend the book study with her. I asked her how the Governing body knew which topics to post in the magazines and what subjects the elders need to talk about for public talks. She never answered my question, but assured me it was covered in the chapter they were studying in the Daniel book. I was just curious on how they recieved the info.

As Ray Franz wrote, most of the things written in the JW publications are authored by JWs who are not part of the "anointed", also in the Early Christian Church there was no GB that the members looked up to for new light in due time. That is an unbiblical invention of the GB to justify the total centralisation of power and teaching authority in their hands.

The GB doesnt even write most of the literature these days as for how they come up with doctrine they twist the scriptures to suit their needs. Most of the lit out today is a rehash of the vomit spewed out by Fred Franz circa 1945-1991after Rutherford died he was the "company spokesman" and Knorr was the businessman.

I rmeber when I first started studying I ask this question, and the answer then was that angels (messengers of God) give them their "food" through dreams...I thought she was cookoo, but for some reason I accepted the answer and continued with the studies.

I asked her how the Governing body knew which topics to post in the magazines and what subjects the elders need to talk about for public talks.
They get reports from the CO's, DO's and the Branches. These reports highlight trends that might need some commenting on. They also rely on regular subject repetition. Every 3 months or so, expect a study article about how the faithful slave is wonderful and must be obeyed. Other subjects are revisited in the same way.
What the GB does not do is ask the 'anointed ones', the actual FDS by their own interpretation. This is something the general JW does not realise. They hear the FDS is feeding them, even hear references at every meeting thanking them, but have no idea how to explain why the FDS is not actually involved at all. Virtually all that is published today is written by the Writing Committee, made up of non 'anointed' ones who present it to the GB for approval.

Strange how they rely on the non anointed writing committe to produce spiritual food and bypass the fellow anointed FDS members. But it is obviously all about control the writing committe are person of their inner circle that they trust not to rock the boat.
For a long time as a dub I didn't know that most of the FDS were not consulted about anything and were in effect non entities in the WTS. Consequently only the GB can be blamed for all that is wrong in this org. -

All doctrine for JW's has already been laid out as you mention. Those writing new material today simply repackage old material. As you mentioned.....little Freddie Franz was the "oracle" in the writing dept although others were writers as well. His articles were an easy spot however. If it was a complicated article/book.....he no doubt wrote it...lol.

I agree. There is a lot of power abuse at congregation level too, but that is also their responsiblity for setting up the Org. in the way they have and by not ensuring the 'elders' are truly qualified, and remain so.

I was always told that the FDS contributed information and that the GB prayed over what was to be sent to writing commitee ? Do I have it wrong ? How can I substantiate that the GB don't consult FDS for material ? It would really help me when reasoning with my husband .
