Is there anyways the society benefits from counting me as an inactive? Up until i had this thought I was content to just walk away. I don't really care what actions they take about me since they lost any authority with me long ago. BUT...if they're making a buck off me this is different. Does anyone know?

All publishers had to sign the Publisher Card before which is now viewed as a proof of membership by the Religious Community. The number of 192'000 members is officially given unless there are only about 165'000 publishers. Because a corporation of public law has to have a minimum size also inactive members are counted.
I'm not aware of any similar advantage to the WT doing this in Canada, but like you, I'd be pretty pissed off to know that I still benefit the bastards in any way.

Some time ago on H2o, I think Kent (if Im not mistaken)posted a document that shows how in Norway the Govt gives a certain amount of $$ to the different religions depending on the number of members.
Well it seems that the WTS lied on their application to the Gov't and claimed more JW's than they really had. This was proven because in that same year in the yearbook the society printed a lesser amount of JWs. Evidently they were still counting the inactives and disfellowshipped to rake in the $$.
If Kent did not post this, I'm pretty sure he would have the article and scanned copy of the application. Randy over at Freeminds might also have it.
