Some years back I met someone from Orillia at a resort run by JWs. We tried keeping in contact off and on through the years.

The last time I talked to her had to have been some 7 years ago. Her mom had been df'ed and she herself had married 'out of the truth'. She seemed to have a pretty defiant attitude towards the org.

Her first name is April. I am wondering if anyone around here would either know of the area of ontario I am talking about or even possibly know this person.

    Thanks all.

I do know the area well - the Huronia region is beautiful - but I don't know of a person called April. If you know her maiden name or her mothers surname, you could try googling them....sammieswife

    Hi Sammie

I did try googling. Didn't go very far.

I believe that the last name was Clarke.

If I'm not mistaken the mother had remarried and I've no idea what her new last name would be.

    Thank you for replying!

I went up to visit her one time. It was so beautiful. It was the dead of winter and there had to have been a good 3 ft of snow. Just lovely. I went to the congregation and met some of her friends. I remember 2 people a David and a Sasha.

    thnx again

I'm wondering if it was Evergreen resort at Red Bay. I was there once, and decided I'd never go again. I don't like a 7:30 AM breakfast bell when I'm on vacation.

    finallyfree,

    omg yeah it was.

My family still goes there every year.

I hated it. Breakfast at 7:30 doesn't work for me at all. I went when I was around 15 or 16.

Every year they would try to get us to go and we (me and my hubby) thought it wasn't worth the $. We found a camping spot right down the road that we enjoyed much better.

The one year we went to this camping spot we saw the Northern Lights on display. I'd like to hit that spot again if only to see if we can see it again.

W Oh my god, I was there once too, when I was like, 15 or so...we had a blast, but i hated getting up so early, and then on Sunday, they held the WT study in the main hall. Didn't the owners have a couple of little kids, and one was mentally challenged? They were really cute. Oh, and they had a talent night on Saturday night....that was SOooooo long ago....the resort was nice..

OMG! That stupid study!!! I was newly married, for about 2 months, when I was there, and watchtower studies were not foremost in my thoughts. My ex was more theocraticâ„¢ than me, and thought it was a good idea.

I was there with my family when I was 15 or 16 that would be around 1990.

Yeah they did have a couple of kids. And I believe that there was a daughter or granddaughter w/ down syndrome.

Didn't do the Sunday meeting. I remember it, but I wasn't there for it.
