Other than spiritual conversations you've heard at the Kingdom Hall.

I remember once talking to a brother at the kingdom hall, who was a car mechanic, and I asked him a little question about my car, and he replied, we don't talk about this at the kingdom hall, meaning we should only talk about spiritual things....

Gee, I couldn't believe what he told me, when just about everyone at the hall talks about anything butt religious stuff.

At ours, everyone talked about other things besides spiritual. The only time that an eyebrow was raised was when I'd thank and pay the sitter for having watched the kids. "shortcut through the temple" was usually the phrase I'd hear.

I ..(we) always talked other things, like work and business.

The big NO - no, ... here was talking about any MLM opportunity.

I asked him a little question about my car, and he replied

This is probably just his way of keeping from being inundated with car questions and mooching brothers wanting free repairs.

I used to pay 40$ for an oil change at his garage, 15 years ago....while at the toyota garage i would pay much less...with the original parts on top of that.... I had nothing to gain going to the brothers garage.

I went there because he was a brother......and I'm the one who got screwed...

    I dont do that anymore

I remember getting in trouble for handing out thank you cards after my graduation party, in which I had to thank people for the little hair clips they bought me, whilst watching them lavish cars, etc., on a girl who was studying. I was annoyed coz I'd been "faithful" all my life, busting my bum, and she walked in and they treated her like royalty.

She was probably blackmailing one of the elders...who had been knocking her off for years...think nothing of it...

In one congregation several elders and ministerial servants ran a marble business. They wanted my pioneer son to work for them. I said no, I wanted him to continue to pioneer. The money would have been nice but we were managing.

The same elders were on the committee which DF'd my then-husband. The night they announced the disfellowshipping they surrounded me after the meeting and hounded me to let my son work for them. I literally couldn't walk away. Only after I said yes did they open a space so that my children and I could leave the hall.

Invitation and announcement cards weren't allowed to be handed out before or after meetings. Although the PO's wife would hand out cards with the elders blessings.
