February 15th Study Article on "New light"

When I read this for the first time yesterday, of course to quickly underline my WT for the meeting so the "Personal Study Police" (PO and another elder) couldnt say that they didnt see mine underlined, I noticed that the Generation change was not spoken of in the article at all. In fact they completeltely ignore it while mentioning other minor changes. This was one of the most significant doctrinal changes in WTS history and they never even alluded to it in the article. Why do you think this is? Because they are afraid that newly associated ones who never heard of it before would ask questions?

It wasn't a doctrinal change. They only brought a spirit of wisdom to the matter and corrected the understanding of the meaning.

That's their take on it, anyway.

In truth, it was a major change that they managed to push through without the majority of dubs realizing it.

Very 1984ish. Control the information, then later, control the memory of the history.

I'd say the generation change wasn't included because the higher ups know its a very sore point for many of the dubs. (Born out by the decreased "zeal" and the "lack of urgency" of the rank and file)

I didn't have the guts to bring up the generation change, but an elder did though. And this is with the CO being around to boot.

He was saying how that was one "adjustment that bugged him at first" (there was some laughing from the audience here -- with a sort of restrained/unsure tone to it). Then he continued on about how it makes more sense, we're serving with more pure motives ...blah blah blah.

This was the first thing I also noticed. The points they brought out in the article were very minor compared to the whoppers that most people have issues with. Maybe you should pose this question to your wife and see what she says.......
