I fail to see how this would "bring it down". What about gnosticism could bring down the WT? I don't get where you're going with this.

That is a gnostic work and gnosticism was rejected by catholic Christianity since its appearence in the late first century at a time when the Apostle John was still alive. He disapproved of them in his letters.
All mainstream Christian religions are anti gnostic and view such works as this as spurious.
