Do any you ever remember the elders admonishing you to change certain behaviors, attitudes, and actions that could be considered a consience matter if it was stumbling another brother or sister...they always quoted a scripture "he that stumbles the faith of another will perish in gehena" (I think it goes like that...) Correct me if I am wrong.

So I have been reading Crisis of Conscience and I am at the part about the 1975 debacle...My question is if " Jehovah is directing the faithful and discreet slave (eka governing body, WTS, etc) why would he direct them into making a colossal blunder on when exactly Armeggedon was coming, thereby stumbling the faith of those in God and driving them away from him? " In essence, its almost as if Jehovah allowed them to drive the flock away, which according to the WTS he is so "desperate to protect" hence the need for Disfellowshipping and such. Yes, it can be argued it was the act "of imperfect men" but don't you think Jehovah would have given them a flash of "new light" to correct the fallacy in their reasoning before the disastorous ramfications that occurred in 1975? Yes I can understand their arguement of "Jehovah reveals his purposes to us in small increments at a time because if he were to reveal his overall purpose humans would be overwhelemed by his complex thought processes...and they like to quote the scripture somewhere in the Gospels " His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. " It is this precedent of that has allowed them to make changes in their interpretations of biblical doctrines under the guise of "new light" without driving the flock away...I can understand that...but why would Jehovah allow them to commit outright perjury to the flock? I thought in Titus it said " it is impossible for God to lie?" So if HE SPEAKS through The WTS as his Liason to the earthly organization than God Has lied...since the faith and discreet slave claim that all of their actions and statements are inspired by God. Surely God does not lie. Nor would he associate himself with an organization that has been guilty of spreading a whole host of lies. So as Scully has put it how can they Jehovah's blessing then?

I don't know I thought this might be a great arguement to use in a JC meeting when it comes to arguing the absolutism of the Faithful and Discreet Slave... I listened to Sick of Lies JC meeting and I was getting sick and tired of listening to how infalliable the Faithful and Discreet slave were...

Please correct me if My arguement is anyway shape or form flawed...

I want to help my Mom out of this damn organization...I think I am going to confront the GESTAPO once again soon.

'New Light' means...In my book anyway....That you 'add' something to the 'old light' ...They don't 'add' nothing, they completely change it!

It's all a bunch of BS!

The Faithful and Discreet Slave are directed by Jah until it can be clearly proved that they were wrong , as in 1975 (and a whole bunch of other stuff) Then they become just imperfect fallable men, not prophets....gotcha coming, gotcha going. You can't win with these snake oil shysters.

Oh but they do claim to be prophets:

*** Watchtower 1972 April 1 p.197 'They Shall Know that a Prophet Was Among Them' ***

People today can view the creative works. They have at hand the Bible, but it is little read or understood. So, does Jehovah have a prophet to help them, to warn them of dangers and to declare things to come?

    IDENTIFYING THE "PROPHET"

These questions can be answered in the affirmative. Who is this prophet? ... This "prophet" was not one man, but was a body of men and women. It was the small group of footstep followers of Jesus Christ, known at that time as International Bible Students. Today they are known as Jehovah's Christian witnesses. ... Of course, it is easy to say that this group acts as a "prophet" of God. It is another thing to prove it. The only way that this can be done is to review the record.

Thank you zeroday - that's an interesting quote. I popped my WT Library CD straight in and had a read. Another gem from the same article:

And since no word or work of Jehovah can fail, for he is God Almighty, the nations will see the fulfillment of what these witnesses say as directed from heaven.

I've gone in circles about this as well with my jw. The usual response is something like, 'they are just men and make mistakes, they had the best intentions and motives, just because the date is wrong doesn't mean it is a false prophecy'. Now explain that to me?! It seems they cannot see what a false prophet is when it comes from the wt. Keep those blinders on!
