Totally true! There hasn't been another writer like him since he died.
I found the John Gardener sequels to be tepid and not to my tastes at all.
From Russia with Love and On Her Majesty's Secret Service were the best of the lot!
I'm a great admirer of John Barry as well. He score the best Bond films of all time.

John Barry is my favorite!
I use an Alesis Quadra-Synth Piano Plus keyboard and an ancient version of Cakewalk on a Windows 3.1 computer!!
