It's so EASY! Just identify your problems - and then assert the opposite! Are you alcoholic? Tell everyone you never touch the stuff!
Broke? Tell everyone how rich you are! It's easy and fun!
So, with this principle in hand, we can analyse the latest Watchtower's main study article, "The Joys of Walking in Integrity" (May15)
It asserts that JW's enjoy:
"an accurate knowledge of Bible teachings"
like what? baptising teenagers instead of adults? setting dates for Armageddon? emphasizing the name "Jehovah" even though
Jesus ("our Father") , Paul (1 Cor 8:6 , "there is actually to us one God, the Father") and John avoided it? ( no "Jehovah" in any of
his letters). After seeing every doctrine germane to Jehovah's Witnesses ripped apart and disproven over the past few years, you'd
think they'd make some sort of effort to defend themselves, in response to the internet - but their silence speaks volumes.
here's some others:
"Happy family life"
Huh? what are you talking about? Shunning relatives who don't "believe"? Watching your kids "leave the truth"?
Seeing Brother Prominent run off with younger Sister NiceMelons?
"Assurance that world problems will soon be solved"
Hello? what part of '120 years of false expectations' don't you understand? Does the word "soon" have any real meaning
in this fantasy-land?
"Knowing what brings true happiness"
Would that be Prozac? Paxil? Welbutrin? Xanax? Cognitive Therapy? Could I check the medicine cabinets of publishers
in any average congregation for pharmaceuticals to prevent depression? Didn't the Awake magazine abandon this topic
out of embarassment?
"A personal relationship with Jehovah and support from the international brotherhood"
A personal relationship, you say? If God won't converse with you and expects you to strictly obey instructions given only
in dead languages, is that personal? Is that support from the brotherhood COMPLETELY CONDITIONAL on my meeting
attendance AND the approval of the elders who can expel whoever they wish? Is this support too feeble to allow communal
meals at assemblies, because the 'international brotherhood' won't contribute for food service? And if they can't manage
even that, what then?
"the hope of seeing dead loved ones again"
Oh, you mean after I am completely reduced to atoms, God will create an exact copy of me in the future, because there's
absolutely no 'soul' or anything that survives ? that "hope"?
The sad seduction of all this is, that eventually, pretending that problems don't exist becomes easier and cheaper than
trying to fix them honestly.....
and I think that's how most empires fall apart. Good luck with that, Watchtower.
