My own personal feeling is that the WTS has misunderstood the significance of Jesus' words "Do THIS in rememberance of me"
Their "reasoning" goes something like this: In Australia they celebrate Anzac day in REMEMBERANCE of the gallantry of their soldiers, and of their emergance as a nation. How often do they observe this? Once a year, right? The same with France and their Bastille Day, USA and it's 4th of July Independance Day, etc. As can be seen these days are kept in rememberance of something and the significance will be lost if it is observed more than once a year. OK, thats fine.
But the question is, did Jesus say to keep a certain DAY in rememberance of Him? The WTS interprets Jesus' words as if they read: "Keep doing this [on this particular day] in rememberance of me" As if the significant thing to be kept in rememberance is the "TIME'' factor. The thing to be kept in rememberance is not the mystical meaning behind a certain "day'' even slavishly waiting for sunset, so that in some biblical way this new day begins, but a Person, "ME"
Lets ''reason" on this in the way that was intended by the Lord. Suppose your wife who you lust after every night and day has to leave you. She is a Major in the US Marines and she is headed for Iraq. She knows you love her very much, so she says on the eve of her departure, "I bought you your favourite after shave, it's expensive, but you know I'm crazy about it. When I'm away, every time you wear it, I want you to remember me"
Would you interpret that to infer she was meaning the annual observance of the "day" of her departure? So that you would wear this only once a year? You would show a disrespect for the sacrifice in money and concern she felt for both of you. In fact the very opposite of what she intended would be the result. No of course not. In fact because you want to remember HER, not a certain ''day'' you'd probably wear the after shave every day. Why? because you just cant wait to see her again.
And guess what? when that globemaster plane brings the troops back, and you rush out to hold her again, what the hell will you be wearing? hmmm?
The original Christian Church was a loose and scattered association of people, a band of brothers/sisters who were united not by the severity of an imposed doctrinal formula, but by a love for a certain person, a person they considered their Lord. Everything tied up with their salvation was embodied in that particular Person, and the carnal, Jewish, ritualised, significance of certain ''days'' was done away with.
