My dad died on this date and I was 19 years old. We were having a circuit assembly at our town the next month and I was the Room Servant. We would go from door to door to find rooms for those attending and I was in charge of finding and assigning them to those attending. I don't know if they still do that or not. A lot of responsibility for a 19 year old.

At the time I was a pioneer, but really wanted to go to work and find a wife and have sex, and a life. I had to quit pioneering and find a job to support myself and my mother. I really felt better doing that than pioneering. Two years later I found a wife from California who I had met at the New York convention when I was 16, she lived in New Mexico then. So many old memories.

Bittersweet memories; thank you for sharing those with us. I can remember "rooming" work. I'd love to hear more...

    g'day Ken,

Almost 31 years ago my dad suddenly died leaving me in a similar position. I was a 17 year old pioneer who wanted the same.

    Happy Easter, unc.

Certainly any youth can do without the WTS burdens and have a more natural and enjoyable life rather than waste time and effort for a wealthy corporation advancing their interests and selling their books without any personal gain.

As someone told us once: at your age you should be out having some fun with girls instead of preaching the Bible.

My father died 32 years ago this month. He was only 49. At the time I thought he'd be back real soon since I was fairly new in the truth. Now, of course I see clearly and am thankful for that. He never lived to see his grandchildren. He thought my new religion was a cult. Now I am a grandfather four times over. He fought in WW II at the battle of the bulge, was dropped behind enemy lines the night before Normandy invasion (82nd Aifborne). Seems so long ago that he left. Enjoyed your reminiscing.
