I guess the "truth" is true, even when its not true. Now I understand.[8>]

I hate calling it the 'truth' now that I know nearly all of it isn't

Now, Ang, you KNOW how this whole thing works.

As JW's, whatever we have been told at the moment is the "truth". If it turns out later that it wasn't the "truth", it was simply that the light wasn't bright enough to see the "real truth" so we were taught a pseudo-truth, so to speak, to fill in until the present "truth" becomes evident (until it is re-revealed, of course).

If this situation occurs in any other religious group, however, JW's are fully justified in preaching against the "lies" taught by these other religions, and the "changeable doctrine" (which is, of course, anathema to Jehovah, who requires that we learn the "truth", which does not change....unless it is subject to "new light" which makes change not only allowable, but beneficial and good). Of course, we must understand that Jehovah doesn't always allow us to see the complete "truth" because the FDS is made up of imperfect men who make mistakes....even though they are guided by the Holy Spirit, which is, of course, perfect, but which at times takes coffeebreaks at inopportune moments it would seem.

Now......how could you possibly question this logic?

The denial/ignorance prevalent among loyal members almost defies belief. A strong testament to the very real danger of allowing oneself to blindly accept all one's knowledge and beliefs from just one source (cult).

Thanks Red for clearing that up!

I think the new term (from a recent Watchtower) is 'HAZEY' light

    Hey Red,

As JW's, whatever we have been told at the moment is the "truth". If it turns out later that it wasn't the "truth", it was simply that the light wasn't bright enough to see the "real truth" so we were taught a pseudo-truth, so to speak, to fill in until the present "truth" becomes evident (until it is re-revealed, of course).

That is the Truth, as far as it goes. But according to the Insight Book, under the definition of the word Lie - it is not considered a lie to withhold true information from someone you do not feel deserves a true statement.

In other words, you can lie to whomever you want, just rationalize that the other person didn't deserve the truth.

Gives a whole new dimension to the WTBTS. If they give this freedom to their followers, have they been exercising this freedom for years before allowing us this freedom? I think so - but just mho.

'What is truth', thats what Pilate said.

Truth is out of style these days. Its almost a meaningless word now.
