amazing1914's thread above talks about several things, one being saints and how the catholic church reasons that its ok to pray to them. i didnt want to hijack his thread with my rambling thoughts..

the reasoning sounds eerily like how the wtbs explains how the FDS is the great crowds mediator instead of Jesus.

specifically this passage in the thread above..

The Watchtower, and many fundamentalist Protestant groups, equate communication to Saints as asking Jesus to mediate for us. They are in serious error. The truth is that the early Christians, clear back to St. Igantius, St. Polycarp, and St. Ireneaus all taught what later became known as the "Apostles Creed" which stipulates as the basic creed of Christian teaching that one has "communion" with the saints. Talking to a Saint is not the same as asking for mediatorship. Christ's mediatorship has to do with his sacrifice and the New Covenant and salvation. It does not cut us off from talking (praying) to Saints.

. Christ's mediatorship has to do with his sacrifice and the New Covenant and salvation.( i have heard this same sentence when someone has tried to explain how the FDS is the great crowds mediator instead of jesus)

my thoughts are kinda scattered, but basically i'm asking/stating... while i was growing up as a jw.. they often said there wasnt a seperation of classes as jw's , we're all brothers and sisters..but with this teaching that Jesus is mediator only of the FDS, is that not creating a whole other class between god and man? i mean, as jw's we have to do what they say thru the publications so they have ecclesastical power over their brothers.. and then i think..wait a minute.. the remnant isnt an organized think tank.. how many actually have any say in the publications? hence another class.. the governing body.. but wait again, they're mostly old men who are in retirement and we know the publications are written by a writing commitee, screened by a legal commitee, a service commitee etc etc.

why is it once your out for awhile and sit back and THINK, it all seems so rediculously wrong? (i was one who always thought i was in the wrong, they were right and i just wasnt good enough to cut it) now that i'm inactive, my thoughts arent structured and as you can see, quite scattered lol..but heck..i'm THINKING!!

I would like to point out that having communion with the saints has nothing to do with praying to them when they die. No where in the bible does it say you can pray to anyone other than God or Jesus. I just want to make that point clear. The early church father mentioned above had an agenda for pushing the Catholic faith and ways of doing things These rules he is trying to establish has no bearing on anyone outside of the Catholic faith. Just like the WTs rules are specific to them and do not affect anyone else, same thing here. Although each claim they are the only true church, and try to set up rules and regulations on how to do things that they want Christians to abide by. Christ established the true church at Pentecost by pouring out Holy Spirit on believers. This is the arrangement today too. All true believers are given Holy Spirit which unites them together, there is no need for a centralized body to give them rules and doctrine and there is no need for a building. As long as they follow the very simple principles that Christ and the Apostles laid out in the NT, they are approved as a church by God. They may visit any church they wish for fellowship or worship at home. It does not matter. But they do not come under any rules of any particular organization because Christ set them all free from that. The true church refers to the body of believers in Christ. It is that simple. So the above statement about needed a Bishop for communion or any other reason is not true. Christians can partake of communion at home if they so disired and the Lord would find it just as acceptable. There are some similarities between the JWs and the Catholic religion. Here is an interesting link about this:
