  Did a committee of forum assistants meet in the virtual library and decide what was permissible?

  There's a list of rules for this forum. As posters we agree to abide by them. If we don't, then we may get booted. I don't think that's unreasonable.

  Is your issue that the mod can unilaterally make the decision, based on his/her own sensibilities, filters, opinions and prejudices?

  I think it falls more in the category of showing good manners in someone else's "house". It's easy to forget that we are in someone else's space. Whoever owns the space has the right to set the rules. But even if someone is kicked out of this "house", we can still speak to them in someone else's house. So they are not "disfellowshipped", just banned from one "house".

  At least, that's how I see it.

  The decision regarding upside/down was not mine, but the forum owner's. upside/down (or u/d which was the duplicate account that he used to contact me) was informed that his comments regarding Muslims likely resulted in his posting privileges being restriced. Having received a reply to the PM that I sent, I am confident that upside/down is aware that his inflammatory rhetoric was the reason why he was restricted from posting, and is merely playing to the gallery on another forum.
