Could Advertising This Fact Bring Them Down?

As far as I can tell, almost no Witness I know is aware that all milk contains blood cells.

    see:

    www.promom.org/bf_info/sci_am.htm

White blood cells are simply part of milk, human or otherwise. Any reference work will support this simple fact.

If this fact was widely publicized, again and again, could it create severe trouble for the Watchtower?

I don't recall any published defense of this fact, in any article or "Question From Readers". I can easily imagine

asking your relatives , "Is eating white blood cells OK? Does "abstain from blood" mean only red blood?"

"Is drinking milk wrong? Is breastfeeding wrong?"

If they ever quote Acts 15, you could always correct them immediately and say "yeah, but that only means red blood, right?..

    because............"

    and also

"why hasn't the Watchtower told you about this?"

This might be a lot more fun than trying to explain 607 chronology or argue that the UN alliance wasn't just a forgery.

What if JWs only drink chocolate milk? Huh??

Nothing will "bring them down" as an organization; just help one person at a time.

I've gone round and round on this topic with a couple of jw's with no visible success. Them: "But breastfeeding occurs naturally; Jehovah is the one who gave us the ability." Me: "So Jehovah will let us ingest WBC's intentionally, but he won't allow us to inject them in an emergency?"

That will always be their routine answer. It occurs naturally. So it's ok. They don't hear the other arguments.

I don't see it as "bringing them down".

It could be a useful reasoning point for lurkers on this board, or anyone wavering on the fence as to the reasonableness of JW doctrine. There is some point that will "tip the balance" for just about anyone--this one might do the trick for some. But most will just dismiss the thought, or at best ask an elder about it.

If enough people ask their elders about it, it will get to the COs, who will in turn inform the Society. A "Questions From (imaginary) Readers" would follow, with an answer along the lines of "The ancient Israelites were allowed to drink milk, but had to abstain from blood. So, following the ancient pattern, JWs can drink milk, but must abstain from white blood cells derived from blood that has not been properly 'poured out' upon the ground."

This is of course a specious, stupid, and ridiculous argument, with more holes than a white-blood-cell laden slice of Swiss cheese, but for JWs, who are specifically trained not to critically examine anything from "mother", this will be haled as a remarkably wonderful and airtight argument.

    Ditto to Jourles.

The "natural" defence also appears when you mention mosquitos and leaches. They eat blood "naturally" so that's okay, ...but JW's don't feed pets food that contains blood.

There is no logic here, but I would love to see a QFR on this subjuct and see the logic pretzel around milk.

I think they've been down that road before and had their noses rubbed in it over the vaccination issue . They are just plain stubborn . I don't think any of them go out of their way to find a Kosher butcher so the likelyhood of them getting a dose of animal blood is very high according to the mosaic law . I'm all for the alternative treatments they advocate but there are circumstances where people will die unless they get whole blood in an emergency . If blood was to be trown on the ground then how come they still allow fractions? I thought they made it a matter of conscience anyway here lately .

If the Society was dealing with this issue for the first time right now..........I'm sure they would handle it very differently than when it was in the 1940's (or whenever the doctrine started)

Now they're stuck with this.......the repurcussions would be far too great to back off completely now. But they are trying..........(ex. - the acceptance of blood fractions)

They're likely hoping that eventually medicine will develop a synthetic blood product.

I dont think it will affect them. There is blood in meat and they eat it. The entire blood issue now does not make sense as JWs can have vaccines made out of donated blood, things primed with horseshoe crab blood etc.

The answer they would give is that Jehovah was just referring to blood released from the veins, out of respect for the life of the animal.

I don't think there is a law code for horse shoe crab or fish anyway, just land animals . I think they really need to lay off telling people what sort of medical treatment they can utilize . They clearly are bullying people into the grave when there is a chance they survive . The mosaic law covenant is not important anymore , the only rule against blood in the new testament was animal blood being eaten from animals sacrificed to idols . The mosaic law still had some clout, as the apostle Paul wrote, it was obsolete and passing away but really didn't pass away until the romans destroyed the temple in jerusalem .
