I just got an email from a friend of mine who lives in another country. We became friends in high school, he was here on exchange. We have contacted each other on and off over the past few years and it's allways good to hear from him. Today I got an email from him and I can't believe what I read.
Quotes of the message as recieved below the dotted line
    -------
Speaking of his new C.O he said: "he gave me a couple of preciuos hints to
be more efficiet in this society."
Then went on to say: "so i put more enegy in the field ministry. set the aim of 50 return visits for every months and more studies. this forces me to organaize my lifestyle. get rid of the less important things to get more time to preach. it is challenging but i manage to do so. so far i think i can say i am doing okay. but there are more things i can do. now i work 2 days a week and this is enough to live. can you believe that? i try to keep my life simple so this can be possible. i don't buy nothing but foods. haapy way to live.
    -------
Such a good guy and all he can see to do is work work work for the society. Not one mention of anything truely spiritual in the letter, but more on how the work is becoming more and more intense. I wonder what he will think when soon I am no longer a JW. He is one of about 3 JWs I will actually miss if I am shunned. It's so sad. Got to keep going though.

Since it looks like you are about to be d/f maybe you need to write to him and explain what is happening to you so that he hears the real story and reasons, rather than some tainted information on the grape vine. He will also know where to turn if he ever has doubts.

I don't get it how can only buying food make you happy. If one person has to do this much then they need more people not fewer people to work harder.

What happened to Jesus saying take my yoke for it is light.

The WT yoke is very heavy I guess.

In the daytime, the "publishers," as they are called, go around from house to house "witnessing" or "exchanging for a contribution" the pamphlets and books which they have already bought from the society at five cents per pamphlet and twenty cents per book. The ideal work week for "publishers" according to the society is "five days devoted to God, and one day to secular work." (JEHOVAH'S TRAVELING SALESMEN, BY BILL DAVIDSON, Collier's Nov. 2, 1946)

    Good Afternoon Brothers and Sisters:

An essay by brother Robert King that just may shed some light on why these things are occurring to Jah and Jesus' sheep in "spiritual paradise".

    Isaiah 28:10-13

10 For it is “command upon command, command upon command, measuring line upon measuring line, measuring line upon measuring line, here a little, there a little.” 11 For by those stammering with their lips and by a different tongue he will speak to this people, 12 those to whom he has said: “This is the resting-place. G IVE rest to the weary one. And this is the place of ease,” but who were not willing to hear. 13 And to them the word of Jehovah will certainly become “command upon command, command upon command, measuring line upon measuring line, measuring line upon measuring line, here a little, there a little,” in order that they may go and certainly stumble backwards and actually be broken and ensnared and caught.

Fifty return visits per month, he must be in one of these third world countries that ignore the truth about the WTS, but the poor guy he got totally swallowed up by the borg and is wasting his life for them thinking that he serves god. He also unwittingly spreads their destructive propaganda thinking it is life saving.

Ah, the ascetic ideal that the Society preaches and which the Governing Body does not practice... Asceticism works for some people, but for Witnesses it is not a personal, reasoned choice. It is a strong suggestion, magnified into a near-command via social pressure, that comes from without. It is imposed.
