Any chance of a translation, or at least a short summary in English, mon ami?

I do know of assembly halls that did not get their first choice of location though. The local people and town government voted their request down. They built elsewhere and now say it was a better place and that "God's hand" was in the matter.

Much as I dislike the Dubs, I dislike NYMBYism worse. So long as a group obeys the law and zoning regs, and coughs up their own dough for the plot, they should be free to assemble for whatever legal purpose they so choose.

In France the local people have no choice and no voice, even if the size of the Assembly Hall is too big comparing the total of inhabitant of the town like Deyvillers (1400 soul in Deyvillers comparing the 1000 seat of the hall).
But JW in France have a terrible argument: We are persecuted !!!
What i have still seen in the news concerning JW is that in USA or elsewhere, a lot of time, JW are asked to go elsewhere to build their place of worship, without crying that they are persecuted. In France, they used this kind of story, where they are assured to win ( a mayor have no right to refuse a licence to build a kingdow hall except for technical issue), to told to the rank and file that 1/ they are persecuted 2/ that Jehovah protect them because they have winned the case.

I must admit, I read Kingdom Hall rather than Assembly Hall; sounds a little like overkill to me.
This religious persecution thing is going to bite France in the bum, eventually, if they keep allowing minorities to use it as an excuse to ignore (and despise) the majority.

Don't worry, Charles, the WTS cries persecution here too. It is just that the US Constitution is more strongly worded regarding religious freedoms because the US is made up of many people and their descendants that came from countries where they could not practice their religion. But that doesn't mean that that freedom isn't tested regularly in the courts.
If the building is too big for the town, then perhaps new zoning laws need to be drafted. But then if other religions have been allowed to build similar sized buildings in conjuction with similar sized towns.......then could be the religious affiliation be the concern?

They lost their case in the European court about being labelled as a cult so what is the persecution claim all about? The French government must have proved its point.

I thought they appealed that to the European Union court which has not yet been decided.
